Tulum

The ancient Maya city of Tulum is one of the Yucatan Peninsula's most incredible archaeological sites, since it was built on a cliff offering a breathtaking natural spectacle of the Mexican Caribbean.

Tulum

Tulum Generals:
Tulum Tulum, 130 km south of Cancun, in Quintana Roo, Mexico is an archaeological site of the ancient Maya civilization settled in the Yucatan peninsula formerly known by the name Zama, meaning city of Dawn. Tulum is also the Mayan word for fence or wall, and the walls surrounding the site allowed the Tulum fort to serve as a defense against invasion. From the numerous depictions in murals and other works around the site, Tulum appears to have been an important site for the worship of the Descending god. Tulum is at first sight the most beautiful of the ancient Mayan civilization cities: small, but exquisite, poised as it is on a fifteen-meter-high cliff overlooking the Mexican Caribbean Sea. Next to the archaeological site you’ll find the finest selection of beachfront and downtown Tulum hotels and boutique hotels, beach clubs and nightlife along with events calendar.

There are lots of ruins, sacred places and other Maya archaeological sites to visit.

Nighly activities: Nightlife in Tulum is pretty mellow, limited to DJs and live music at the restaurants, beach parties and hotel bars on the beach. There are a couple of nice bars in Tulum downtown.
